Once I finished the camera animation, the next thing that I wanted to work on were the trees. Up until now, I had been using some trees that I got on the Unreal Engine Marketplace, and I wanted to make my own trees. I had decided at the start of the project that I would use SpeedTree to create and texture my models. I had heard really good reviews about the software, and wanted to get some experience with it.
I downloaded the modeler and spent some time getting used to the way it worked. It is a pretty useful and intuitive program, and it feels really nice to use. I watched tutorials and created some test models.
After I was more comfortable with the program, I started working on my first tree model.

I tried to keep my tree close to the reference image. I'm pretty happy with the way the model is looking, and now I will focus on the materials for the tree.
